Job Summary: The Subject Matter Expert is responsible for the technical development of courseware components as part of a Product Development Team.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The analysis, design, development, and review of course materials for technical accuracy
  • Coordinating and attending kick-off meetings and various other milestones for course development
  • Reporting course status
  • Facilitating team meetings as necessary to meet courseware milestones
  • Interfacing with internal and external customers
  • Some travel to support the development and validation of courses
  • Perform courseware review for technical accuracy
  • Provide information on new technologies
  • Interface with the customer(s) to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Procure technical data, tools, and equipment needed for courseware development
  • Provide technical support in customer meetings
  • Interface with industry associations

Required skills:

  • An understanding of a typical collision repair shop environment
  • 5 to 10 years of collision repair experience required
  • Experience in curriculum development (online, virtual, and live taught)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to apply critical thinking
  • Thorough understanding of collision repair industry trends

Desired skills:

  • Instructor experience
  • Collision repair facility management experience

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelors of Science in Automotive Technology/Management or the following Experience:
  • Minimum of four years experience as a collision repair technician
  • Minimum of two years experience as a manager of a collision repair facility

Job Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • • Identify opportunities to improve processes and participate in process improvement events and activities.
  • • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in an office and shop environment working on, around, and with collision-damaged vehicles, and the related tools and equipment (including frame machines and paint booth) typical of those found in modern collision repair facilities. Computer operations (including email), document development/review, research, and telephone, is approximately 50%. The noise level in the shop environment is moderate to loud.
  • • Required to regularly stand, walk, sit, handle, trigger, hold, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, and crawl, squat or kneel and bend. May be required to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds. Required to be able to hear and smell. Required to see, with near, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision.
